Common to both classes:
- Convenient location
Reading is 30 minutes by train from Paddington. The class venue (my home) is 10 minutes cab ride (or 20 minutes by bus) from the station. Also easy to access by car from the M4.
- Meet like-minded people
- Small groups (2-6)
Large gatherings can be fun, but ‘questions and answers’ are usually limited to the end of the session, and I know from experience how we don’t always feel confident to ask ‘in public’ that question we really want to know the answer to…My groups are small, friendly and relaxed, and you can ask as many questions as you like all through the sessions.
- Easy, interesting and delicious raw food recipes to feed you, your family and friends
High-end ‘raw cuisine’ recipes are impressive, but take a long time to prepare! I leave those for the chefs in raw food restaurants. Rawforlife raw food recipes will be easy enough for anyone to be able to put together, but delicious enough to serve to non-raw people! All food will be raw vegan, although please note everyone is very welcome, i.e. raw vegans, raw vegetarians, and those who include meat and/or fish in their diets. Although menus will vary by class, you can get an idea of the sorts of food I make in my raw food kitchen on the What Is the Raw Food Diet? webpage.
- Ingredients that in most cases can be bought from the local supermarket
When I started on raw food, it was quite frustrating to find that so many raw food recipes included ingredients I had neither heard of nor could buy locally. I bias my raw food recipes towards those that can be made with ingredients from your local shops or garden. If I do include the occasional unusual ingredient, I will let you know where you can get it from, and the cost. Ingredients will be organic where available and, depending on season, may be picked from my garden the same day – no food miles!
- All raw ingredients
Many 'raw' food recipes in raw food recipe books and on the internet include non-raw ingredients, or, at least, ingredients that cannot be bought raw in the UK. My classes will include only those raw food recipes that can be made from truly raw ingredients.
- Lots of food!
I will be giving you lots of samples throughout the day, as well as a ‘proper lunch’ –you won’t go hungry!
- See equipment in action
Cuisinart food processor, Excalibur dehydrator, Vitamix, masticating juicer, Spiraliser - it’s good to see these in action before you splash out. I can also show you smaller but very useful items, such as a sprouting jar and nutmilk bag. Equipment demonstrated will vary by class. Do check the itineraries, and ask me if you'd like clarification.
- Browse through my 'raw' books
I have many raw recipe and raw 'lifestyle' books that you can look at. Most raw fooders including myself have bought raw recipe books then found one or two of them were really not suited to our needs. Look at mine first, to avoid wasting money.
